Moncton & District Minor Baseball Association Inc. was formally established on April 13, 1954 under the presidency of Flying Officer J. M. Lutes with Hal Betts as secretary. Initially some 180 players were registered with 10 teams. Jim Keefe headed up the 4-team juvenile division with Dave Matheson taking the reigns of the 6-team midget division. Back then, games were played at Kiwanis Park, the old C.O.C. field and at the Lewisville field.
In the past two decades, substantial additions have been added to enhance the game. The Association has purchased a pitching machine, a tarp for the infield at Kiwanis Park, a portable batting cage, a portable pitching mound, infield batting screens and a radar gun for pitchers.
The association's presidents have been the following:
1954: Flying Officer J. M. Lutes
1955-56: J. C. Kennedy
1957: Vic Lewis

Moncton & District Minor Baseball
Association Inc. was officially incorporated as such in 1976
although it has been unofficially in place since 1954. Our
objective was and is to oversee the minor baseball program for
Moncton and area youth from 5 to 21. In 2001 an "outreach" program was initiated that brings kids of all ages from various neighborhood communities under our "teaching" umbrella.
Then in 2007 we merged with Moncton Lions Minor Baseball, a
collaboration that facilitates more effective organization of
all levels of minor baseball. We strive to give children of all areas a place to play and to enjoy the summer months.
We have a "summer student" program whereby we hire through government grants a number of college and university students to help with our summer programs. If you are or will be attending any post-secondary institution, please get registered with both the federal and provincial summer employment programs and mention it to us so that we can make an effort to hire you in our program for the current year. If you need any help in this, please call us at 855-3633.
We have a constitution and a duly elected executive and board of directors. Half of the members are elected each year to serve two-year terms. All active members of MDMBA may vote at the annual meeting in the fall of each year.
Our office is located on the ground floor of the Kiwanis Park press box next to the Dud James Arena on
Limerick Street (follow the
link to view a map of our location) in Moncton, N.B. it is normally staffed from morning to night during the summer and most days during the winter.
